The year is 1920. Zinaida Kazarova, a very famous singer, comes to a town in Siberia to give a concert. A long time fan of hers, a journalist named Svechnikov, convinces the singer to perform at a local club for her younger fans. During the concert, the singer is shot by an anonymous source. Svechnikov feels that it is his duty now to find out who the killer was. Svechnikov starts a search for the killer, but not to repay him for what he has done.. "The mystery of her soul was hidden in the mystery of her death", he said. During the search, he feels as if Zinaida pulls him towards her with love.. and her death turns out to be as mysterious as her whole life..
